Turkey and Iraq Held a Meeting  on Water Issue : Partners are close to agreement

  Thursday, 01.08.2019 Iraq, Turkey is now favorable to negotiations conducted with the water issue and announced a joint agreement to be reached on this issue. According to a written statement from the Government Information Office, Iraqi Water Resources Minister Jamal Adil Agriculture and Water Committee Chairman Selam Eş-Şemri  and  a delegation chaired by Veysel Eroğlu  the Presidential Special Representative for Iraq met in Baghdad . It was stated that the meeting on the water issue between the two countries was positive and a common agreement could be reached to serve the interests of the two countries. The parties exchanged information on hydrological and metrological data and water reserves were recorded during the meeting. During the meeting, the Turkish side presented a series of proposals, such as the implementation of projects in the field of land reclamation, drinking water and sanitation, broadening the cooperation framework in the fields of economy and trade, and the establishment of a joint research center on water management in Baghdad.   HPA News
