Abstract : This study was conducted to determine the amount of applied water and the interval of irrigation water for cucumber plant by using the free surface evaporation values in field conditions.  The amount of  water used was based on free surface evaporation from a screened Class-A Pan. Irrigation treatments consisted of two irrigation intervals (I1: 4 and  I2: 8 day), and three plant-pan coefficients (Kcp1: 0.50; Kcp2: 0.75 and Kcp3: 1.00). Plants were first watered at the transplanting date and scheduled irrigations were initiated after 4 and 8 day intervals.

According to the results, the average values of irrigation water of irrigation treatments varied from  320.2  to 509.2 mm; the average values of evapotranspiration of irrigation treatments varied from  391.2 to 572.7 mm; and the summer sguash yield varied from 17.99 to 45.20 ton per hectare. Furthermore, the highest total yield were obtained from I2Kcp3 treatment. En yüksek erkenci verim en fazla su uygulanan Kcp3 konularından elde edilmiştir. Et/Epan ratio according to treatments varied between 0.29 to 1.25. In addition, it was determined that irrigation programs had affected  to (P<0.01) significant level on the yield. Ayrıca, meyve sayısı ile sulama suyu, bitki su tüketimi ve verim arasında % 1 düzeyinde önemli doğrusal ilişkiler saptanmıştır. 

It can be suggest that 8 day-interval of irrigation and the pan coefficient can be applied according to Kcp3. And with this, time and labor will be saved.
